Bear Root Gardens believes that seeds are one of the most important elements in creating a sustainable food system. They pride themselves on offering their neighbours and friends a range of locally adapted seeds that thrive in Northern conditions. Locally adapted seeds are important for producing and sustaining strong yields year after year, and are often more resistant to pests and diseases. All seeds sold are grown and hand packaged by them on their property in the heart of Verona, ON.

The Brains
Kate Joslin has always loved plants and her Masters in Biology proves it. When Kate is not harvesting seeds she can be found crocheting amazing veggies.

The Muscle
Pat Joslin has worked on large & small scale organic farms learning a number of techniques he has applied to the seed growing practices at Bear Root Gardens. He loves crop planning and the genetics that go into seed production.

The Girls are the most important part of the gardens. Their endless imagination and curiosity in nature makes Bear Root Gardens a magical place.
